"Parrots in Captivity" is a leading series of prints and reference source for parrots, parakeets, macaws, lories, cockatoos and other exotic species by W.T. Greene, M.A., M.D., FZS.

The eighty-one (81) original prints from "Parrots in Captivity" are recognized by collectors on a world wide basis for over 100 years for their beautiful color.

At the time of production during 1884 to 1887, Greene did not credit the illustrator, though the accreditation belongs to (or after) A. F. Lydon. (Sitwell's "Fine Bird Books", 1700-1900.)

The prints are original hand finished lithographs and are in fine condition. Each print comes with a custom, archival mat. Choose a favorite print.

A Selection of Original 1800's Prints Available for Sale:  

Barnard's or the Bulla Bulla Parakeet is a handsome Broadtail and has a deep crimson frontlet.

Native to Australia and very scarce in captivity. Generally, not a good talker, but pleasing and engaging. Essentially, a seed eater in its local down-under and native tree environment.

The Jardine Parrot has a rich emerald green upper plumage and crown with orange and red on the forehead and shoulders. It is small bird and only about twelve inches in overall size. 

The species territory is in the western coast of Africa. The parrot is a talker, but with a small voice

The Great Salmon, or Rose-Crested Cockatoo is a magnificent aviary specimen with a raspberry and cream coloring.

It is native to the Moluccas and with an ample and melodious voice. The cockatoo is about eighteen inches in height. The species has gentle eyes that are captivating to behold.

The Blue and Yellow Macaw is dressed in a mantle of brilliant deep blue. The rump is of a greenish shade and the rest being yellow. 

Native to South America and usually found in pairs.  This macaw makes an amiable and desirable companion. It can be exceedingly tame and also a good talker.
